The granules from my shingles are ending up in my gutters? How serious is this?
Granule loss can be an issue especially if it is premature granule loss. It might be a defective shingle or something else we can determine for you.
It may be a defective shingle and if so, we can guide you through the shingle claim process.
What is an Impact Resistant shingle?
This shingle is specially designed to withstand the impacts of hail. It is a shingle that contains rubberized polymers, SBS, to resist hail damage but most importantly retains the shingle granules longer and extends the life expectancy of the shingle. We will educate you on the various options available.
What is SBS in an Impact Resist shingle?
SBS stands for Styrene-butadiene-styrene which is a rubberized polymer that allows durability, flexibility and holds up against hail and the shingle aging process in general. SBS is also said to maintain granule retention.
How often should I have my roof inspected for damage?
Insurance companies and other sources say an inspection every five years. We recommend five to ten years and our inspections are free.
Will my insurance company pay for a new roof?
Your insurance company will inspect for damage that is the result of an act of nature or accident, such as a hailstorm, hurricane, tornado, falling branches or debris, or other incident.
We recommend having a contractor inspect for damage prior to initiating a claim with insurance.
How much money will I get from my insurance company for a new roof?
The final determination of the value of the claim will be made by your insurance company, based on the report from the insurance adjuster. Depending on the age of your roof, the amount paid may be less than the full cost of repair or replacement (due to depreciation). This figure can sometimes be negotiated.
I got several estimates to repair my roof but they vary widely. Why?
Before making a decision, make sure all the estimates are offering the same project scope/detail of work, quality of materials and experience level of the crew. We’ve used the same crew for 20+ years.
